Family Chili Recipe (yum!)

This weekend I’m headed to the family ski cabin and thought a great meal to cook up was my grandfather’s chili! of course, chili is one of those recipes that you can change ingredients and have it still come out tasty – like which veggies to put in, and how much. Below is the basic recipe I work from (if theirs no amount given it’s because that part is entirely up to preference)

Chili Recipe

-3 cans of red kidney beans (rinsed)

-1 can of whole tomatoes and the juice from the can

-1/2 can of black olives, halved

-1/2 can of green olives, halved

-1/2 a chopped large yellow onion

-chopped celery

-chopped green pepper

-chopped red pepper

-slices of jalapeno peppers

-thickly sliced mushrooms

-chopped broccoli

-2pounds beef (cooked in spices – I use black pepper, cumin, chili powder)

-3 different types of spice packets (for example ortega, mccormicks, old el paso)

-1/2 of a 750ml can of ale

Mix it all together in a large pot on the stove or a large crockpot – leave on medium-low heat for 5-7hours until done.
